Mission & Core Values

Our Mission

We are a worshipping community that seeks to be the presence of Christ in our words and in our actions, through many people and many ministries doing one thing in unity: following Christ in his mission to a beautiful and broken city – and through the city and this region, the world.

Our Vision

  1. Keep prayer central
  2. Be intentional about spiritual formation
  3. Extend God’s grace beyond the walls of PCC

Our Core Values

  • WE WILLBE A CHURCH THT IS HOLISTICALLY MISSIONAL

Just as a fire esists by burning the church exists by embracing its mission found in the Great Commission and the Great Commandment. We want to be the body of Christ and be Jesus where Jesus needs to be with His passion to seek and to save. We will be intentional about evangelism and about compassion, mercy, and justice. We are advocates for the whole mission of the church. As agents of grace we will make a difference with beliefs and behaviors about reconciliation, hope, justice, and peace for the poor, the powerless, the marginalized, and those who have yet to experience salvation. We want to be the church in this place and change the world.

Psalm 67, 106:3; Micah 6:8; Matthew 22:37-40, 28:18-20; Luke 15, 19:10; colossians 1:20

  • WE WILL BE A CHURCH THAT IS DISTINCTLY BIBLICAL

We choose to be a people acknowledging the central place of the Bible and allow it to speak into our live together. We believe that the Holy Scripture, both the Old Testament and New Testament, is the word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct. Together we read the Bible and historically we have been a people that wanted to know - "Where in the text is that written?" and "What do the scriptures say?" We hope to read and hear the message faithfully, thoughtfully, devotionally, communally, rigorously, charitably, and holistically. We want to be a place where we learn to believe.

Deuteronomy 8:6; Psalm 33:6, 119:05; Isaiah 40:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17

  • WE WILL BE A CHURCH THAT IS PASSIONATELY DEVOTIONAL

It matters that the personal experience of a believer is one of transformation and growth. We want to learn what it means to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We want to know and be committed to the life and work of Jesus and the spiritual disciplines and practices necessary to be new people. We commit ourselves to Him and his Kingdom priorities. In a practical way this requires habits of regular time given to such things as study of scripture, prayer as if it matters, and service out of gratitude, in the midst of community, with a shared reverence for Christ. We want to make a difference together one life at a time.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Psalm 1; Mark 12:30; Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 5:21; Philippians 3:10-14

  • WE WILL BE A CHURCH THAT IS DELIBERATELY CONNECTIONAL

We believe in the Kingdom and the church’s place in God’s plans. We hope to be a church that is always becoming more and more of what the community of faith needs to be in life with one another. We want to honor God in welcoming others with gracious hospitality, be open to all who seek a safe place to ask questions, find a spiritual home, discover new commitment, and we serve others. We want to be a place where love, encouragement, dreams, and compassion can be shared. Together we want to be the body of Christ where our gifts are found and placed into ministry for others. We want to be a place to belong.

John 15:12; Acts: 42-47; Romans 12:3-21; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Galatians 3:27-28

  • WE WILL BE A CHURCH THAT IS INTENTIONALLY CREATIVE

We believe in the Kingdom and the church’s place in God’s plans. We hope to be a church that is always becoming more and more of what the community of faith needs to be in life with one another. • WE WILL BE A CHURCH THAT PRACTICES SERVANT LEADERSHIP

We want to be a place with a leadership that reflects the vision, values, and style of Jesus. Servant leadership begins with a call to serve, a spiritual gifting, and then an aspiration to lead. This type of leader serves from the heart and with a willingness to understand. They type of leader builds bridges of trust and engagement rather than walls of tolerance. This type of leader is marked by hope, integrity, hospitality, humility, collaboration, and vision, with a posture of being reflective, open, and self-critical. We want to be a church with a new kind of leadership.

Matthew 20:28; John 13:1-17; Acts 6:1-6, 18:24-26, 20:28-38; Romans 12:7; Ephesians 4:11-13

Diverse in gifts and faith experience, we are an Evangelical Covenant Church, united by the Holy Spirit in Seeking God and Sharing God.
